Hard Cheese?
Not with a little help from the web

Steph Roscoe buys her cheese from The Cheese Hamlet
in Didsbury, although she lives in Switzerland.

Swiss cheese might well be famed the world over but as far as Adam and Stephanie
Roscoe are concerned you just cannot beat a good old wedge of mature English Cheddar.
Some months ago they moved from South Manchester to the land
of the cuckoo and quickly discovered that the local emmental, gruyere, fondues
and raclette just didn¹t have quite the same bite as his old English favourite.
But
thanks to a little bit of good fortune and the wonders of the world wide web,
they can now indulge their passion for their favourite English cheese without
moving from their new home near Zurich.
Surfing the web, they came across the Proud2belocal 'village'
web site listing all local Didsbury businesses including the famed cheese
emporium The Cheese Hamlet, a local institution for the past 32 years.
So, on a recent visit back home, Stephanie popped into the Didsbury
shop, stocked up with cheddar and made arrangements for regular supplies to be
sent out to their home in Switzerland.
"I know that there are some fine Swiss cheeses but to our
taste there¹s just nothing to beat a good, strong mature Cheddar. But had
it not been for the Internet I suppose we would have to have settled for local
Swiss cheeses which, to be honest, don¹t appeal greatly appeal to us,"
said Adam
Cheese Hamlet proprietor John Axon said: "We send cheese
all over the world and are thrilled to bits that we have been able to help two
former local residents and their family. They certainly would have had a problem
in finding a cheddar in Switzerland."
