The West Didsbury Society of Writers
The West Didsbury Society of Writers will be holding their next meeting on
October 8th 7-9pm at the Fielden Centre in West Didsbury.
Maruf Khwaja, a retired journalist with a degree in communications will our
guest speaker for the night.
Maruf Khwaja is a Pakistani journalist and writer. A political activist in
the 1960s and 1970s, he became a speechwriter for President Bhutto. In exile after
Zia-ul-Haq seized power, he edited The Khaleej Times in Dubai. He is now writing
his memoirs.
During the meetings we usually do a couple of writing activities, such as writing
poetry on a particular topic, exploring descriptive words or reading your work
to music. Members are welcome to read anything they have written and the group
will give feedback on it. We have a monthly newsletter which everyone can contribute
to. We try and have a bit of fun with it all and try not to take ourselves too
seriously.
Please contact Jane Woolley on 0161 957 1663 if you would like to join the
group, annual subscription £20. |
